The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested four notorious female drug dealers in Edo, Imo, Kano and Gombe states.
The Director of Media and Advocacy, NDLEA, Mr. Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja.
Providing details of the operations, Babafemi said an intensive raid on notorious drug hotspots across Benin City, Edo State, on June two led to the arrest of four key traffickers, including three women.
“At Uyosa, Benin City, two female suspects were arrested with a mixture of illicit substances, including one hundred and seventy-six grams of skunk, sixty-five grams of Loud and five grams of methamphetamine.
“Along Agbor Road in Benin City, another female suspect, twenty-one-year-old Anita Abraham, was apprehended with ninety-five grams of Scottish Loud and three hundred and twenty-nine grams of regular Loud.
“At Upper Mission, Benin City, a male suspect was arrested with a variety of psychotropic substances, including Loud, Colorado, Swinol and methamphetamine.
“In Kano State, a swift operation carried out by NDLEA operatives on Thursday, June four, resulted in the arrest of a nineteen-year-old suspect, Saifullahi Lawan, at the Kafi area of Madobi, with forty blocks of skunk weighing a total of thirty-eight kilograms.
“In a related development, operatives in Gombe State intercepted a twenty-eight-year-old suspect on June one near Dantiti Plaza in the Tumfure area of Gombe.
“The suspect was found in possession of fifteen thousand capsules of tramadol,” he said.
Babafemi added that the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) social advocacy campaign by NDLEA commands and formations continued across the country during the past week.
Reacting to the successful operations, NDLEA Chairman, retired Brigadier-General Buba Marwa, commended officers and personnel of the Imo, Edo, Kano and Gombe commands for their resilience, professionalism and vigilance.
Marwa also praised officers in other commands nationwide for maintaining a balance between drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction efforts.
He reiterated the agency’s commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks, stressing that NDLEA would continue to target traffickers regardless of age, gender or methods used to conceal illicit substances.
