- To Individuals and Groups Engaged in Violence, Kidnapping, and the Disruption of Public Peace in the East and Southeast this message serves as a firm, direct, and unequivocal warning in response to the escalating wave of insecurity affecting communities across the Southeast and other parts of the country.
The continued targeting of innocent civilians, the destruction of lawful economic activity, and the persistent engagement in acts of violence have created an atmosphere of fear, uncertainty, and instability. These actions are not isolated in their consequences, they ripple across entire communities, undermining trust, weakening institutions, and stalling the progress and prosperity of the region.
Let it be clearly understood: no individual or group operating outside the bounds of the law is beyond the reach of accountability. Security frameworks are evolving, intelligence systems are becoming more coordinated, and collaboration between communities and lawful authorities is steadily strengthening. The space for unlawful operations is narrowing.
We strongly urge all those involved in criminal activities including individuals such as Chikodili Anara, popularly known as Igbakigba, and any associated actors to immediately reassess their course and desist from further acts of violence. The continuation of such actions will inevitably lead to intensified scrutiny, increased operational pressure, and eventual legal consequences.
It is important to recognize that communities are no longer silent. Citizens are becoming more vigilant, more organized, and more willing to cooperate with lawful authorities. Suspicious activities are being reported with increasing frequency, and local support for security efforts is growing. This shift marks a significant turning point that cannot be ignored.
Despite the gravity of the situation, there remains an opportunity for change. There is still a path toward disengagement from violence and reintegration into lawful and productive society. That window, however, is not indefinite.
We also call on families, traditional institutions, community leaders, and influential voices to take an active role in discouraging violence and guiding vulnerable individuals, especially young people toward education, skill development, and legitimate economic opportunities.
Peace is not optional; it is the foundation upon which all meaningful development rests. Without it, no society can thrive, no economy can grow, and no future can be secured.
Let this serve as a final and serious public call: stop all forms of violence, abandon unlawful activities, and choose a path that upholds life, dignity, and the collective future of the region else justice will catch up with you
